More than 1,000 experts from 35 different countries are expected
World Congress of Chinese Medicine
Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc exhibition centre is hosting the World Congress of Chinese Medicine (WCCM) on 25 and 26 September. The Congress is bringing together around one thousand experts from 35 countries to discuss the advances in this millennial discipline.
The congress has a comprehensive scientific programme with more than 190 presentations, workshops and professional meetings. It will present the latest techniques used in traditional Chinese medicine such as acupuncture, phytotherapy and auricular therapy. It will also discuss the benefits of integrating traditional medicine with conventional practices to prevent and treat diseases, amongst other matters.
Of all the traditional techniques used in the field of health, Chinese medicine is the most widely used worldwide due to the effectiveness of its treatments and the growing number of people who would rather be treated with non-invasive treatments with no side effects.
Today there are over 120,000 practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncturists, and the number of European patients who opt for these kinds of treatments is grown to over five million per year. Spain is a pioneer in Europe in terms of the training and promotion of specialists in this field of medicine.
