Fira de Barcelona will be hosting the 19th edition, which will focus on the presence of sports in this genre
The Barcelona Manga Show, a must for fans of Japanese anime
From October 31st to November 3rd 2013, Manga culture and Japanese anime will occupy 35,000 square metres in halls 1 and 2 in Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc exhibition centre. This year, the event is paying special attention to the subject of sports in this genre with the exhibition “Manga en juego” and will pay homage to Spanish authors who have drawn inspiration from Japanese productions of the 80s to create their works. The last show beat attendance records with 112,000 visitors.
Another highlight will be the Dragon Ball Exhibition dedicated to the popular series by Akira Toriyama, who opened the doors of the Manga phenomenon in Spain. The exhibition will feature the history of characters and will show unpublished material.
The event will also have a gastronomy area dedicated to Japanese cuisine in which five Michelin-starred chefs will be participating: Carme Ruscalleda, Ricardo Sanz, Hideki Matsuhisa, Albert Raurich and Jordi Esteve. There will also be a Karaoke zone and exhibitions of popular Asian dances. The anime screenings will take place in the Multi-cinema Arenas, situated in the Plaza España shopping centre.
