Smart City Expo Arrives in New York to make US Cities Future Ready
New York City will host the fourth edition of Smart City Expo USA (SCEUSA) from April 2-3 with the goal of helping North American cities prepare for the future. Under the slogan “Future Ready Cities”, the event brings together 100 speakers, companies and institutions and 3,000 visitors at the Javits Center to tackle the strategies and tools available to face their next challenges.
Organised by Fira de Barcelona, the show brings together representatives of administrations and companies to discuss solutions that enable them to shape more sustainable and liveable cities and also create an environment where the public and private sectors in the United States can close agreements and generate new opportunities.
To achieve this, SCEUSA features a conference programme structured in seven themes: Artificial Intelligence and Deep Tech; Clean and sustainable energy; Data economy and digital assets; Infrastructure and security; Mobility and transport; Laws, Policy and Finance; and Sports and Economic Development.
Among the hundred speakers are Stephen Ross, owner of the Miami Dolphins; Étienne Thobois, CEO of Paris 2024; Joseph Bradley, CEO of TONOMUS. NEOM; Hope Knight, president and CEO of Empire State Development; Brian Regli, Executive Director of Critical Investments for the Governor of Pennsylvania; and Priya Jain, President of Mace Consult Americas.
In addition, SCEUSA will have an exhibition area where companies and institutions will showcase their latest projects and solutions in the field of urban innovation. Among them are Accenture, Bentley Systems, Cisco, Dell Technologies and Sand Technologies.
Sports, a driver of urban development
Sporting events have always been a driver of urban development, and the United States will host two of the largest competitions in the coming years: the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. For this reason, the congress will feature sports institutions and representatives from the cities that will host both tournaments. They include Lauren LaRusso, Co-Host City Manager and General Counsel of the FIFA World Cup 26 NYNJ joint venue; Pam Kramer, CEO of KC2026 (Kansas City); Meg Kane, CEO of Philadelphia Soccer 2026; Monica Paul, president of the Organizing Committee in Dallas/North Texas; and Chris Canetti, chair of the Houston 2026 Committee.
