The world's leading mobile technology congress hopes to bring together 107,000 professionals
MWC Barcelona 2019 places the spotlight on smart connectivity
From 25 to 28 February Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue will host MWC Barcelona, the most important event in the world of the mobile communication industry. This year’s edition will focus on innovations in smart connectivity.
The congress, which expects to attract 107,000 professionals from 200 countries, will bring together 2,400 companies to showcase the latest innovations and developments in mobile technology, devices and services. This year it will place the spotlight on smart connectivity, displaying innovations in 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and Big Data.
Once again MWC Barcelona will organise the Innovation City space to include interactive demonstrations and experiences showing how these technologies are having an impact on society. It has also organised a first-rate congress programme, with the attendance of leading speakers such as Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella and John Hanke, the founder and CEO of Niantic, the company that created Pokemon Go.
MWC Barcelona 2019, organised by the GSMA in partnership with Fira de Barcelona, expects to have an economic impact on the city and the surrounding area totalling 473 million euros.
In conjunction with the congress, the Montjuïc venue will host another 4 Years From Now (4YFN) event for emerging technological companies. The Youth Mobile Festival (YoMo), promoted by the GSMA and Mobile World Capital Barcelona, will be held in La Farga de L’Hospitalet with the participation of 22,000 students.
