The world trade fair industry recognises Fira de Barcelona's international training project
Fira de Barcelona wins the UFI Education Award 2016
Fira de Barcelona has been distinguished with the Education Award 2016 awarded by the UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. It has been awarded in recognition of Fira’s International Talent Development programme based on the recruitment and training of professionals in the trade fair, meetings, incentives, conventions and events segment (MICE) to incorporate them in the Barcelona institution’s international business division.
The UFI has recognised Fira de Barcelona’s project ‘for its creativity and innovative method of capturing talent and training professionals in specific foreign markets. This initiative has a clearly strategic approach to impact on business and also supports future leaders in developing their career within the exhibition industry,’ noted Enrica Baccini, the head of the UFI’s Education Committee.
The HR and Organization Manager of Fira de Barcelona, Olga Figuerola, noted that ‘it is a great honour to receive this award in recognition of a project that helps to consolidate the institution’s international strategy,’ geared towards encouraging companies to reach beyond our borders, capturing new events, exhibitors and visitors from abroad and showcasing and exporting the experience and know-how of Fira de Barcelona. At present, Fira is jointly organising trade shows and other events in Qatar, Cuba, Japan, Mexico, Lisbon and Morocco as well as providing consultancy services on trade fair management in other countries.
The award, which other international operators also aspired to win, joins others that the UFI has awarded to Fira de Barcelona in the past for the quality of its exhibitor services (Operations Awards) and for improving its visitors’ experience through mobile technology (Innovation Operations Awards), amongst others.
