EIBTM, the world’s biggest business tourism show
From 18 to 20 November, the Gran Via venue will host another edition of EIBTM, the world’s most important Incentive, Business Travel and Meeting Industry event . According to the organisation, it is estimated that the show, which is expected to attract 15,000 trade professionals, will generate an impact of 40 million euros on Barcelona’s economy.
EIBTM will involve 3,000 companies from 150 countries, with the presence of travel agencies, tour operators, conference and convention centres, hotel chains, service companies and international event organisers.
This year the event will promote the business tourism sector in Spain, opening up for the first time its prestigious programme of hosted buyers to Spanish buyers in order to foster meetings with both international and domestic suppliers. Furthermore, a conference and workshop programme in Spanish has been organised with the participation of the MPI Spain Chapter and the ICCA Iberian Chapter.
Some of the new features of this edition include the Innovation Zone, where the best technological and service solutions for events will be showcased, and an area dedicated to sustainability. There will also be a complete training programme that includes conferences and seminars to analyse new industry trends, in which leading companies and world experts will take part.
The show, organised by Reed Travel Exhibitions, came to Barcelona in 2004 and since then has helped to promote the city, Catalonia and Spain as important business travel destinations. According to the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Barcelona is the world’s leading city in terms of congress delegates received in 2013, with 123,000 people attending 179 events.
