The event renews contracts and will be in Barcelona at least until 2028
CineEurope, the leading convention and trade show in the film industry in Europe, kicks off at the CCIB
CineEurope, the most important European convention for professionals in the film industry, returns to Barcelona today with the best presentations and screenings of new films from Hollywood and European studios. From June 19th to 22nd, the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB), managed by Fira de Barcelona, brings together over 4,000 exhibitors and distributors from around the world to share and unveil the latest productions, innovations, and technologies for cinema theaters, through screenings, talks, seminars, and a trade show.
Produced by The Film Expo Group, CineEurope is the official convention of the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), an international professional association representing cinema exhibitors and their national associations from 39 European countries, with the aim of promoting the social, cultural, and economic value of cinema in Europe and the world.
Ten international studios, including Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures International, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros, Unifrance, StudioCanal, Lionsgate and Mubi, are participating in the 32nd edition of this convention. They all offer exhibitors details of their new productions through presentations and screenings of the films that will be released in cinemas worldwide in the coming months.
The event, which has been held at the CCIB in Barcelona since 2012, has signed a renewal agreement until at least 2028, with the possibility of continuing the collaboration beyond this year.
According to the CCIB General Manager, Marc Rodríguez, “we are proud that CineEurope, one of the main players in the film industry and audiovisual equipment worldwide, has trusted Barcelona and the CCIB for over ten years and wants to continue growing with us. Our goal is to strengthen our partnership with The Film Expo Group and continue working alongside them to boost the success of the event, offering the excellence of our teams, facilities, and services.”
The President of The Film Expo Group, Andrew Sunshine, stated that “it is a pleasure to be back in Barcelona. We have a great program planned for the week and look forward to welcoming the industry back to Spain. We look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with the CCIB for years to come”.
The CCIB Auditorium, a large movie theater
The CCIB Auditorium has been completely transformed into a high-quality cinema for the studio presentations. Specifically, a large screen measuring 16.95 meters wide by 7.10 meters high has been installed, equipped with the pioneering Clarus XC technology from Harkness Screens. In addition, it has been equipped with 8 Cinionic RGB laser projectors of up to 4K resolution, two of which are for special 3D projections, with a projection distance of 50 meters. At the same time, 42 K.C.S sound systems have been installed to provide the most impactful and immersive sound experience with Dolby 7.1 surround format.
CineEurope will feature a 9,500-square-meter trade fair with more than 80 leading companies presenting the latest technologies in entertainment and film advancements. The program is complemented by conferences and seminars with industry leaders to share current and future trends in an environment where attendees traveling to Barcelona establish contacts and partnerships with industry associates.
Finally, during the event, the “CineEurope Gold Awards” will be presented to cinema professionals for their outstanding dedication and service to the industry; the awards for Exhibitor and International Distributor of the Year, as well as the UNIC Achievement Awards, which recognize dedication and service to the European film industry.
