2020, a year of major professional fairs
A packed trade fair calendar in 2020. The Montjuïc and Gran Via venues will host internationally renowned trade fairs and congresses, particularly in the fields of technological innovation, food, hospitality, the chemical industry, fashion and health. This year’s great activity will once again reinforce Fira de Barcelona’s leadership in the trade fair sector and its important economic and social contribution to the city and the region.
The important trade fairs in 2020 will include MWC Barcelona, the world leader in mobile communications, to be held together with 4YFN on technological entrepreneurship, the joint food and hospitality event, Alimentaria and Hostelco; Smart City Expo World Congress, the international benchmark for smart cities and a further gathering of the applied chemical industry with Expoquimia, Equiplast and Eurosurfas.
Other important fairs during the year will be IBTM World (business tourism), (the aviation maintenance industry), Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, IOT Solutions World Congress (the industrial internet), Liber (the Spanish language publishing industry), Retail & Brand Experience World Congress (the digital transformation of retail trade); Comic, Manga, Ensenyament (education); Ocupació Juvenil (youth employment); Sónar (music festival); Barcelona Meeting Point (the property sector); SIL (logistics); Barcelona Tattoo Expo and the Boat Show.
The 2020 calendar also includes important European medical congresses such as the one on Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Anaesthesiology and Vascular Imaging, as well as technological corporate events such as Cisco Live and VM World.
In 2020 Fira de Barcelona plans to expand its activity into other countries and co-organise a total of 16 trade fairs, six of which shall be new ones: Smart City Expo in Santiago de Chile, Piscina & Wellness and Automobile in Mexico and Cubaindustria, Informática (IT) and Transporte & Logística (Transport and Logistics) in Cuba. These new trade fairs will join the Smart City Expo events in Curitiba (Brazil), Atlanta (USA), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Mérida (Mexico), Doha (Qatar), and Kyoto (Japan),;Alimentos Cuba (food industry) , Renewable Energies Cuba and Fecons (construction) in Cuba and ExpoAntad & Alimentaria in Mexico.
