Smart City Expo visits the Republic of Korea to strengthen relations with institutions and companies
A delegation from the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), the world’s leading event for cities and urban innovation, has travelled to the Republic of Korea to strengthen relations with local institutions and companies. The delegation, led by the Director of the event, Ugo Valenti, aims to share visions with Korean entities that are a worldwide reference, and explore new opportunities for collaboration in the smart city industry.
The delegation’s agenda includes a press conference with national media, and participation in the National Assembly Forum on Smart Life City symposium together with local administrations and leading Korean companies including Hyundai E&C, K water, K-Telecom, LG CNS, Metabuild, Samoo, Samsung Construction and SK Telecom. The meetings will focus on cutting edge smart city technologies and how their latest applications are shaping the current landscape of smart city industry in Korea.
The director of Smart City Expo World Congress, Ugo Valenti, said that “we are honored and excited to be in Korea to bolster our ties with Korean institutions and companies. The Republic of Korea is undoubtedly a benchmark in smart city technology and has always spearheaded the effort to make metropolises an example of how technology can improve our lives. Examples such as Seoul, Busan, Songdo and now Sejong are paramount examples of this, and we see great potential for collaboration in this field.”
On March 21st, the Director of SCEWC, Ugo Valenti, will take part in the ‘Bringing Smart Life Everywhere’ symposium organized by the National Assembly Forum on Smart Life City at which he will outline the key elements of the upcoming edition of the summit. The event will focus the progress and current status of the Sejong 5-1 Living Area and Busan Eco Delta Smart City pilot smart city projects.
Korea & SCEWC, shaping together a better urban future
The eleventh edition of SCEWC, held at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue from November 15 to 17 2022, gathered more than 20,000 attendees, 853 exhibitors, over 700 cities and 400 speakers. Korean companies and institutions had an outstanding participation with over 30 exhibitors such as the Seoul Digital Foundation, K Water, Korea Land and Housing Corporation; and the Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport.
In addition, several high-level officials including the Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, Yoo Jeong-bok; the Director-General of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Seong-ik Oh; and the Member of the Smart City Committee for Seoul at the Seoul Metropolitan Government-Yonsei University, Jung Hoon Lee, took part in the Congress as speakers.
Moreover, Seoul won the 2022 City Award for its Smart Seoul platform through which the Korean capital is actively promoting digital inclusion policies guaranteeing the five basic digital rights – communication, mobility, education, safety, and tech utilization – and providing digital services tailored to the socially vulnerable.
