Landscape architect Rosa Maria Torra to design the Piscina Barcelona 2025 showroom

Landscape architect Rosa Maria Torra Reventós has won the competition to design the Outdoor & Wellness Experience, the flagship space of Piscina Barcelona 2025, which will take place from November 17 to 20 at the Gran Via venue. Her ephemeral architecture project, inspired by the aesthetics and atmosphere of early 20th-century Mediterranean gardens, will come to life during the trade show, transforming into a showroom featuring two pools, outdoor spaces, and wellness areas. It will also serve as a zone for conferences and other activities.

Organized in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Landscape Architects (AEP) and the Official College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC), the design competition for this signature space received around ten proposals from architecture and landscape design professionals and firms from across Spain. Among them, the event’s organizing committee selected Rosa Maria Torra Reventós’ project for its conceptual, landscape, and sustainable approach, as well as its ability to integrate nature, wellness, design, and pools into a 1,000 m² experiential space that will be a key focal point of the event.

The goal of this showroom is to showcase the latest products and trends in the pool, wellness, and outdoor sectors, creating a functional space that prioritizes sustainable design and sensory experience. “We were looking for a concept that embodied well-being in harmony with nature while highlighting our commitment this year to outdoor living, and Rosa Maria Torra Reventós has captured this vision perfectly,” explains Ángel Celorrio, director of Piscina Barcelona 2025.

An outdoor journey towards well-being

Torra Reventós’ design recreates the garden of an early 20th-century Mediterranean villa, where the swimming pool sits at the highest point, serving as the focal element of the space. Inspired by the gardens described in the literary works of Mercè Rodoreda—especially the novels Mirall trencat (Broken Mirror), Jardí vora el mar (Garden by the Sea), and Imatges d’Infantesa (Images of Childhood)—the project proposes a journey culminating at this water feature, transformed into a swimming pool, evoking the connection between water, memory, and nature.

The winning project also includes contributions from urban green space artist Kasia Porebska, an expert in the design of low-water and low-maintenance gardens and terraces. She worked alongside Torra Reventós in selecting and arranging the vegetation to be featured in the Outdoor & Wellness Experience showroom.

Rosa Maria Torra Reventós is both an architect and a landscape designer, having earned one of Spain’s first specialized degrees in landscape architecture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2005. She began her career at the Municipal Institute of Parks and Gardens of the Barcelona City Council, where she worked on projects such as the Joan Brossa Gardens, which was shortlisted for the FAD Awards in the outdoor spaces category. For more than 20 years, she has worked in the Public Works and Parks and Gardens Department of the Sabadell City Council, where she has contributed to projects such as Parc de la Romeua, Plaça d’Espanya, and, more recently, Parc de les Aigües in the Vallès capital.

A central feature of Piscina Barcelona 2025

The Outdoor & Wellness Experience will be the standout area at the upcoming edition of Piscina Barcelona. Covering 1,000 m², it will blend cutting-edge outdoor design, wellness concepts, and sustainability in a realistic and functional setting. The space will include fully operational pools, a spa, treatment cabins, saunas, changing rooms, shaded seating areas with sun protection systems and furniture, outdoor kitchens, and lighting solutions, as well as a dedicated conference area. A new feature this year will be a biopool equipped with natural water filtration and purification systems.

Call for exhibitors to showcase products

In the coming months, exhibitors with a booth at the trade show will have the opportunity to submit up to five products for display in this showroom, free of charge, via a call for entries to be issued in May. Submissions can include furniture, textiles, decorative elements, flooring and wall coverings, as well as equipment and installations for pools, wellness areas, and outdoor design spaces. A technical committee will evaluate the proposals and select the products for inclusion in the Outdoor & Wellness Experience based on criteria such as innovation, design, novelty, and sustainability.

The Outdoor & Wellness Experience will be a major attraction at the event, drawing a high number of visitors. It will be of particular interest to industry professionals from the pool, wellness, and outdoor sectors, including architects, engineers, installers, landscape designers, interior designers, hotel owners and managers, wellness center operators, and campsite professionals, among others.

Additionally, this space will host key conferences and industry events, such as the 13th Barcelona International Landscape Biennial, organized by the Official College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC), and specialized landscaping sessions from the Spanish Association of Landscape Architects (AEP), among others.

With over 400 exhibitors from 30 countries and an expected attendance of 14,000 industry professionals, Piscina Barcelona 2025 is the most international trade show of its sector in Europe.
