The second edition of the Chilean event will feature over 80 exhibitors
Smart City Expo returns to Chile with the aim of reclaiming cities for people
From 25 to 27 July 2024, Smart City Expo Santiago de Chile (SCES) will hold its second edition at the historic Centro Cultural Estación Mapocho. The event aims to be a meeting point for representatives from the public sector, private companies, universities, start-ups and civil society to discuss and address the challenges for the construction of smarter and more sustainable cities.
Organised by Fira de Barcelona and Interexpo, SCES is supported by the Government of Santiago, the Regional Council and the Regional Development Corporation. Under the theme ‘Reclaiming the city for people’, the event will bring together more than 6,000 visitors, 80 exhibitors, more than 30 conferences and 100 top speakers.
The congress will be structured around five thematic axes: Safe and Resilient Cities, Development and Social Equity, Sustainable Development, Governance and Urban Mobility. Featured speakers include Carlos Moreno, Scientific Director of the ETI Chair ‘Entrepreneurship-Territory-Innovation’ and creator of the ‘15-minute city’ concept; Claudia López, former Mayor of Bogotá; Gabriela Elgueta, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism of the Government of Chile; Sang Guun Yoo, Founder of the IoT and Smart Cities research laboratory Smart Lab; and Ilan Cuperstein, Regional Director for Latin America of C40 Cities.
The SCES exhibition area will feature more than 80 companies and institutions presenting innovative and disruptive solutions for urban transformation. These include Auter, Cabify, Claro Empresas, Copec, Dahua Technology, Easy Automation, EnelX, Metro de Santiago, NEC and Sonda, among others, who will showcase the latest solutions, technologies and projects to drive urban development and sustainable mobility.
The event will be held at the historic Estación Mapocho Cultural Centre as part of SantiaGo 2024, International City Week, which from 22 to 27 July will include an agenda of events designed to encourage citizens, academia and business to work together to generate innovative actions focused on tackling urban challenges.
Fira, a global plataform
This event is part of Fira de Barcelona’s international strategy, which in 2024 will be holding 14 events around the world with the aim of contributing to the internationalisation of companies and expanding its organisational experience around the world, establishing itself as one of the leading global trade show organisers.
Along these lines, Smart City Expo World Congress, the leading international event on smart cities held every year in the city of Barcelona, has local editions in cities in several countries around the world. This year, in addition to Santiago de Chile, it is being held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Curitiba (Brazil), New York (United States), Mérida (Mexico), Santiago del Estero (Argentina), Bogotá (Colombia) and Doha (Qatar).
In addition, the fourth edition of Alimentos Cuba and the first edition of IOT Solutions Congress Brazil were held in Sao Paulo and Tomorrow.Mobility Mexico. In addition, the international edition of Alimentaria will be held for the first time this autumn in the Chinese city of Chengdu.
