Boat Show, CPHI, Smart City Expo, Gastronomic Forum among the highlights
Fira de Barcelona faces a busy autumn with over 100 events scheduled
After the holiday break, Fira de Barcelona resumes its activity this September with an extensive calendar that includes, until the end of the year, the more than 100 events including fairs, congresses and various events at the Montjuïc and Gran Via venues and at the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB), strengthening the institution’s position as a tradeshow benchmark. The healthcare and technology events to be held over the coming months are particularly remarkable.
Trade fair activity will continue to be busy in the last four months of the year, with leading professional, international and medical and technological events taking centre stage. Highlights include CPHI, the world’s leading trade fair for the pharmaceutical industry, in October; Smart City Expo World Congress, the largest global summit on cities and smart urban solutions, in November; Piscina & Wellness Barcelona, an international benchmark in its industry, and Ibtm World, the tradeshow for the business travel and congress industry, in November.
In the field of medical and pharmaceutical congresses, Fira de Barcelona’s venues will host more than ten events in addition to the CPHI, including the National Oncology Congress, the European Veterinary Congress ECVIM-CA and the European Congress of Neurosurgery. In the technological field, apart from Smart City Expo, there will be events of global scope such as the Gartner It Symposium XPO Emea, the meeting of analysts from this technology company, and VMware Explore, the corporate meeting of one of the world’s leading cloud service providers, among others.
The general manager of Fira de Barcelona, Constantí Serrallonga, points out that “the calendar for the last four-month period reinforces the outstanding trade fair activity that the institution is carrying out this year holding major national and international benchmark events in strategic areas such as health, technology and food, among others, thus contributing to strengthening the positioning of the city in these sectors and to the economic and social revitalization of the territory“.
September’s trade fair activity began with IFSCC 2023, the international congress on cosmetic science, and at the end of the month Alimentaria FoodTech, the machinery and technology trade fair for the food and beverage industry, will take place. In October the institution will host Bizbarcelona and Saló de l’Ocupació, and the emblematic Boat Show and Caravaning Show.
In autumn, other major events will also be organized, such as Gastronomic Forum Barcelona, which brings together catering professionals, and the presentation ceremony at the CCIB of the Michelin stars awarded to Spanish restaurants. There will also be other more recreational events such as Ubeat Live, an e-Sports and Freestyle festival; Manga Barcelona and the Children’s Festival, in the last week of December.
The schedule for this four-month period is in addition to the intense activity that already took place at the fairgrounds until last July with the holding of major international events such as ISE, IOT Solutions World Congress, MWC Barcelona, Seafood Expo, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, Automobile Barcelona, Expoquimia and Equiplast, among many others.
