Seafood Expo Southern Europe is hosting companies from 25 countries
The benchmark event for the seafood industry
From 22th to 24th September, the Gran Via venue is hosting the third edition of Seafood Expo Southern Europe. This is the benchmark event in Europe for the fish and seafood industry.
It targets seafood buyers, importers, wholesalers and distributors for supermarkets and restaurants. This edition brings together exhibitors from 25 countries, including Argentina, Canada, China, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, Morocco, the Netherlands, Norway, Tunisia, Turkey and the USA.
The show features fish and seafood fresh, frozen, canned, smoked, salted, processed and pre-packed and machinery and equipment used for its preparation. It also includes a full programme of activities, such as presentations, workshops and cooking demos given by experts and chefs of renown.
Spain is a major fishing power with a turnover of more than 9 billion euros in 2013, and is one of the countries with the greatest consumption. Last year over 1.2 billion kilos of fish were marketed, with 26.8 kilos of consumed per inhabitant, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Environment.
The Seafood Expo Southern Europe show is organised by US group Diversified Business Communications in collaboration with Alimentaria Exhibitions, a Fira de Barcelona company. Diversified also organises the others editions in Brussels, Hong Kong and Boston.
