Second edition of the Alimentos Cuba 2.0 to promote exports
The international food technology, food and drinks trade show celebrates its second edition from 22 to 24 May at the PABEXPO exhibition centre in Havana. More than 150 exhibitors from more than 20 countries around the world will be attending the show, covering an exhibition area of 4,000m² and turning Havana into the main meeting point for importers and exporters of the Caribbean food sector.
Organised by the Palco group and Fira de Barcelona and sponsored by the Ministries of Food Industry, Domestic Trade, Foreign Trade and Investment, Agriculture, and the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, Alimentos Cuba 2.0 seeks to promote industrial development to generate exports, transfer and access to technology, attract foreign investment, generate new sources of employment and long-term financing, as well as develop infrastructures and services that allow the creation of a business platform that contributes to successful investments.
The show will feature representatives from about 13 food-related sectors, including water, soft drinks, beers, musts and cider, preserves and semi preserves, meat products, dairy products, wines and spirits, and agrofood machinery, equipment and technology.
Moreover, there will be a Gourmet area with hands-on sessions aimed at getting to know and enjoying different products with tastings guided by experts, as well as a Market Place area where business meetings will be held to boost networking in Cuba.
There will also be Business Rounds organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba. These will be meetings between exhibitors and national buyers intended to boost networking between buyers and suppliers. There will also be a forum for foreign investment to attract strategic partners within the Industry Development Programme for the island, for a value of 760 million dollars.
Among the more than 20 participating international companies, Spanish companies such as Estrella Damm, Miguel Torres, Gamma Lafuente, Destilerías LH, and El Artesano Turrones stand out. The countries represented will be France, Italy, China, Argentina, Switzerland and Germany, among others.
Ron Festival
As a parallel event to the show Alimentos Cuba 2.0, the second edition of the Ron Festival in Cuba will take place. Organised by the Cuba Ron corporation on 23 and 24 May at the PABEXPO fairground in Havana. The event will feature industry professionals, producers and national and international distributors, and it will introduce the main trends in the sector and new products, visits to factories, masterclasses, pairings, tastings and culinary shows, among others.
