The 33rd ESCRS Congress brings together more than 6,000 worldwide specialists
International meeting on cataract and refractive surgery
The Gran Via Exhibition Centre plays host on 5-9 September to the 33rd edition of the Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) This is one of the world’s biggest meetings dedicated to this speciality and brings together more than 6,000 experts.
It features a standout programme of conferences and seminars that will reveal the latest advances in the treatment of cataracts and other eye disorders that require refractive surgery such as presbyopia, myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism. It also features an exhibition area in which the latest technologies, lenses and new techniques, including laser, will be presented.
More than 18 million people suffer from cataracts, the leading cause of age-related blindness, followed by glaucoma and macular degeneration, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The ESCRS Congress kicks off Fira de Barcelona’s medical congress calendar for the second half of the year, which also includes international congresses on traditional Chinese medicine, paediatric endocrinology and gastroenterology.
