Construmat will offer solutions for more innovative and responsible approach to construction.

From May 20 to 22, Construmat returns with more ideas, solutions, companies, and professionals to help redefine construction and rehabilitation with a focus on sustainability. With the participation of 350 exhibitors 350 exhibitors from 22 different countries, Construmat will be a major showcase of technologies, systems, and building materials, as well as a knowledge forum aimed at advancing toward a more innovative and responsible building model, one that can also address the housing deficit in Spain.

Organized by Fira de Barcelona, Construmat has become a reference for professionals linked to the construction industry’s value chain who are looking for the latest trends and innovations in sustainability, technology, and efficiency. More than 22,000 visitors are expected to attend.

Xavier Vilajoana, president of Construmat and APCE Spain, emphasizes “the representativeness and transversal, innovative nature of the fair’s commercial offering” and is confident that “the interaction between professionals, companies, experts, and government representatives at the fair will generate new ideas, solutions, learnings, and collaborations that will contribute to transforming an industry essential for increasing the housing stock and constructing buildings, spaces, and environments more efficiently and sustainably.”

Highlighted sectors and companies

So far, the most represented sectors at Construmat include walls, structures, facades, and roofs; wooden, metal, and PVC carpentry; insulation, waterproofing, coatings, and paints; flooring and cladding; industrialized construction; and machinery, tools, and equipment. These sectors account for 65% of the total exhibitors.

he trade fair will also showcase specialties such as climate control and ventilation; solar protection; professional services; lighting; urban planning, landscaping, and outdoor spaces; furniture and interior design; glass; BIM and ICT for design and construction; bathrooms; kitchens; water management; energy management and capture; as well as associations and organizations.

Among the companies already confirmed are some of the most influential in the sector, such as Alsina, Technal, K-line, Urbidermis, Jung, Greco Gres, Exlabesa, Deceuninck, Grupo Valverde, Cosentino, Stil Condal, Indalsu, Alufactory, Fischer, PMP, Molins, Saltoki Offsite, Lahyer, Evowall, Tq Tecnol, Renolit, Dakota, Steico, KLH, and A. Solanes, among others.

On the other hand, 36% of the commercial exhibition will be international, showcasing the strong interest in the Spanish market and its influence in southern Europe and the Mediterranean. Specifically, companies and pavilions will be attending from France, Germany, Portugal, China, Turkey, Poland, Belgium, Austria, Morocco, Italy, the UK, the Netherlands, Egypt, Andorra, Lithuania, and more.

There will also be the participation of various international entities that will organize their own events and sessions within Construmat. Notable among them is the session by the Union of Mediterranean ArBuild Europechitects (Umar) titled “Natural Disasters in the Mediterranean Area. Architects at the Service of Society,” and the  assembly and conference, an association representing residential developers and house builders from 18 EU countries, focused on affordable housing.

Start-ups and investment forum

In the exhibition area, a space will feature around thirty start-ups selected for their technological solutions to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency in construction (Contech), as well as reinvent services in the real estate sector (PropTech). This area will be accompanied by a space for talks, pitching sessions, and networking to present projects to potential investors, buyers, and partners. Additionally, Construmat will award a prize for the best emerging company of this edition.

Social housing, AI, and healthy biohabitable environments

Apart from the commercial exhibition, Construmat stands out as an important forum for dialogue and sector knowledge, as well as a place for training, innovation, and networking with multiple activities. Among them is the Sustainable Building Congress, where leading projects in sustainable construction will be presented, related to the production of social and affordable housing, the creation of healthy biohabitable spaces, and the use of artificial intelligence in construction processes.

Another highlight will be the new Construmat Experience space, which will host project presentations, masterclasses, and roundtables promoted by sector entities. Topics will include AI-driven designs, improving the resilience of buildings against climate emergencies, strategies to attract young talent and women to the industry, energy savings, and solutions for reconstruction following the DANA disaster in Valencia. The ACI Engineering Summit will also take place, where key issues such as decarbonization, AI control systems, and complex construction projects will be discussed.

Workshops, showroom, and materials

Additionally, practical demonstrations and training will play a key role in the event. The Workshop Area will host interactive workshops and activities designed for professional learning and updating. Participants can attend sessions on solar certification, sustainable decorative painting techniques, industrialized masonry, airtightness in rehabilitation, and other innovative solutions presented at the fair.

Visitors can also explore La Plaza, a 200m² showroom of ephemeral, functional, and sustainable architecture. Designed by young talents, it will integrate energy efficiency, healthy materials, and aesthetics under the concept of “Eco Construction.”

Another interesting space will be the Construmat Materials Library, which will showcase innovative composites and circular building materials used in prototypes to test their application potential.

Promoting talent

This year, Construmat is launching an initiative to present the construction sector as an attractive career option for young people and other professionals. In collaboration with Barcelona Activa, May 22 will be dedicated to exploring the types of qualified professionals the industry needs, offering career guidance, and generating professional opportunities through meetings between candidates and recruiters.

Finally, in partnership with the Mies Van der Rohe Foundation, Construmat will present the Construmat 2025 Awards. These awards recognize excellence and sustainability in architectural projects and will honor responsible and pioneering constructions in healthy architecture.
